My early money beliefs were that there was never enough of it and it’s always unpredictable.

I also believed that it was noble to be poor and that I would be undesirable if I was rich.

When I was a little girl, my family went through a financial crisis and lost everything. I saw how my parents had to borrow money from their friends and relatives to make ends meet.  

As a result I had money wounds that were left unchecked, which created toxic cycles in my adult life. 

When I became an adult, I made sure to work hard so that I could give my parents a comfortable life. At 28 years old, my husband and I were already making six figures a year, bought our first home, built a very comfortable life and traveled a lot.

Due to the immense pressure to provide for my family, I lost all the money I made.

At age 35, I had nothing to my name.

No savings, no property, no life insurance. It was then that I noticed my family’s financial cycle was repeating itself in my life.

I thought I had to work on my money mindset. This was what I’d been taught from all the courses and programs I’d bought over the years. And it did work for a while, as I started materializing money. 

However, becoming affluent threw up a different kind of money block.

I became more anxious and depressed. The more money I had in my bank account, the more I wanted to spend it all, and be broke again! 

Being broke was comfortable to me.  Well-off Jessie was new, unknown territory, and my emotions weren’t equipped to deal with having a lot of money. 

I felt guilt and shame for not being able to manage my finances and emotions, even though I’m supposed to be a coach! 

However, my money mindset was only one piece of it which was why the blocks came back. I’d been ignoring my intuition to address my money trauma, the crucial key, but I didn’t trust it.  

So, I kept hustling on the road to burnout, so that I could pay off the debts sustained from spending so much. I hoped that my anxiety would go away, but…

My health began to suffer and my business nosedived to a near financial ruin.

The more money I made, the more debt I incurred. I was spending everything I made. 

Paying for more courses and coaching, and working harder to save my business seemed like the only way out.

I realized: Having more money didn’t solve my money problems. 

There must be an easier way to get out feeling drowned and despiar with this money cycle!
